The Research Institute for Electronic Science accepts people who intend to research specific specialized matters as research students. Admission is twice a year, in April or October, and the research period is one year in principle.
If you have special reasons and wish to enroll in a month other than April or October, or if you wish to shorten or extend your research period, please contact us.

Application Process
【1】Preparation in Advance
Please contact your prospective supervisor and obtain his/her consent to apply as a research student.
【2】Preparation for Application
Please read the application guidelines carefully in advance.
Then, contact the Research Cooperation Section, Administrative Office, North Campus Area Joint Administration Hokkaido University (k-kenkyo[at]jimu.hokudai.ac.jp) to receive the following:
- Website address of the online application system
- Login ID for the system
【3】Procedures via the Online Application System
- Fill in the required information in the application form
- Select your preferred method of payment for the screening fee
【4】Payment of Screening Fee
Please pay the screening fee using the payment method selected in the online application system.
【5】Submission of Application Documents
Submit the necessary documents in accordance with the application guidelines.
