The Laboratory for nanosystems physiology, the Section of Scientific Instrumentation and Control is established.
2005, 10: The Laboratory of Optoelectronics, the Section of Electronic Materials is renamed the Laboratory of Nanophotonics.
The Laboratory of Signal Processing, Section of Informatics and Processing is renamed the Laboratory of Photon Process.
The Computational Life Science, the Section of Informatics and Processing is established.
The Nikon Imaging Center is established (for a fixed period of 3 years).
The Institute of Nanoscale Science and Technology at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and RIES are signed the agreement of academic exchange.

The Laboratory of Molecule & Life Nonlinear Sciences, the Section of Scientific Instrumentation and Control is established.
2008, 1: The Centre for Advanced Research in Physical, Chemical, Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and RIES are signed the agreement of academic exchange. (2009, 12 This departmental exchange agreement changed to the inter-university exchange agreement. The Department in charge is the Graduate school of Dental Medicine.)
