Stochasticity and robustness in growth and morphogenesis (トップコラボ事業 第五回学術講演会)

How do organisms cope with natural variability to achieve well-defined morphologies and architectures? We addressed this question by combining experiments with live plants and analyses of stochastic models that integrate cell-cell communication and tissue mechanics. This led us to counterintuitive results on the role of noise in development, whereby noise is either filtered or enhanced according to the level at which it is acting.

フランス・リヨン高等師範学校 Arezki Boudaoud 教授は Member, Institut Universitaire de France (2013) (フランス国内の全分野の中で最も優秀な教授トップ 120 人に選出)、 European Research Council Starting Grant (2012) (欧州で全分野の中で 450 人のみが選出) 等に選出されています。Cell 2012, PNAS 2009, Nature 2000,2004,2005 など多数著し、またその著作の被引用数も当該分野ではトップレベルにあります。同教授はパリ第 6 大学で物理学で博士号を取得したのち、MIT数学科講師、パリ高等師範学校において統計物理学 CNRS Researcher を経て、現在、リヨン高等師範学校 Juliet Curie 研究所で発生再生植物学の教授を務めている稀有な極めて高い学際性をもつ異色なトップランナーで、研究室のみなさんを引き連れて北海道大学にお越しになります。興味のある方々は気楽にご参加くださいますようよろしくお願いいたします。
